You get taught that Provocation is wrong, you know, and something that no selfrespecting musician would ever do. But I've got news for you ... Bards tend to travel, and it's a cruel mean world out there. You either keep up or get kicked aside.

Really, just think about it. How often do you find money just lying in the road, free for taking? Never! If you need gold, the best way for me to get it is to trade something. Now my choices are: I could sell my lute, or try to beat a rabbit to death with it, or playa tune that would compel some passing stag to skewer a hare, and then sell the pelt. Only one road can I take, and still remain a musician, and that's the one I'll take, thank you very much.

Using the Provocation skill, a player has a chance to make two creatures fight each other. It is one of the most powerful skills in the game. Beware that if you fail the monsters will look for a new target, you.

Provocation is difficulty-based skill. Some monsters are much more difficult to provoke than others, depending on their Barding Difficulty.

Once two creatures are fighting each other, they will continue to do so for thirty seconds. After this time they will crease fighting if the bard goes beyond the range of control (30 tiles)

You can improve your chances at success by using exceptionally crafted instruments, or for an even greater chance at success find a magical instrument.
